RV Chassis; Truck Chassis or Bus Frame

For those that have considered setting out on the open road to explore America in a recreational vehicle or motor home they know that there are many choices. Not all motor homes are created equally and each motor home or a recreational vehicle has its pluses and minuses.

Many motor homes come on a bus chassis and the motor home is built on top of this frame. Some recreational vehicles come on a truck chassis and sometimes they keep the truck front end as part of the motor home.

For my recreational vehicle I chose a truck chassis on a Freightliner frame, it is a popular truck model and easy to get parts for and it has a reliable Caterpillar engine. It makes for a very nice sturdy and strong motor home.

Other people like the boxy look and most of those motor homes do come on bus frames. Perhaps you might like a truck chassis underneath your motor home for improved reliability? It is all a matter of looks and opinion really.

If you want a Truck Frame under your recreational vehicle then there are many different manufacturers to choose from such as Kibbi, which makes the Renegade Series and Dynamax, which makes the DynaQuest and Grand Sport. Both of these manufacturers make high-end and high quality products. They are truly a breed apart from the other motor homes and recreational vehicles on America's highways.

After driving nearly 500,000 miles around the country in my motor home in the last five years, I can tell you that I recommend the Caterpillar engine and a truck chassis rather than a bus chassis motor home. Please consider all this in 2006.
